This sailing school is the quintessential south shore waterfront venue for your wedding. Nestled on the harbor in the quiet town of Duxbury, MA, it features a spacious lawn overlooking the harbor for your ceremony, a permanent sail cloth tent, upper and lower decks for cocktail hour, and an elegant upstairs dining room with twinkle lights for dinner and dancing. There’s also a spacious bridal suite to get ready in.

Have your first look on the dock. Sometimes a harbor cruise boat ride is even available for your closest friends and family members. Your guests will love taking photos on the lawn during cocktail hour and watching boats pass by. If you are looking for a south shore waterfront wedding venue, look no further than Duxbury Bay Maritime School.

THE PERFECT VENUE

It’s the day of your wedding and sunlight is glimmering off the boats in the harbor, while you feel a gentle seabreeze as you breathe in the fresh salty air

Should I get ready at Duxbury Bay Maritime School?

FAQ

The venue does not provide a traditional bridal suite for getting ready, although they do give you a room to store your belongings in throughout the day! I recommend getting ready at a hotel nearby (most likely Plymouth will be your best bet.)

A FEW OF my MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SHOOTING WEDDINGS AT duxbury bay maritime school

Where do you recommend taking our portraits?

There are a lot of options! It also depends on if you're going to be doing a first look. You can either do portraits right at the venue, or at nearby Bumpus park or Duxbury beach. Depending on your timeline, I sometimes recommend we go to a different location because it is a very intimate venue, and if your guests start to arrive while we are doing portraits, they will be able to see you!

How long should we set aside for portraits?

I ask for a minimum of a half hour for couples portraits and a half hour for family and wedding party, for a total of 1 hour minimum. More time is always better! If you are doing a first look, I will recommend we start it about 1.5-2 hours before your ceremony time.

What if it rains?

Duxbury Bay Maritime School is one of my favorite venues to be at if it has to rain! That's because they have a gorgeous sailcloth tent that they will move your ceremony under, which still allows for an amazing view of the harbor. They also have multiple covered decks that we can take photos under if necessary, again allowing us to have the water in the background.
