Kayla and Tom’s Warren Conference Center and Inn wedding in Ashland MA took place on a drizzly day in August but that didn’t dampen the mood. I loved photographing this happy couple. There was a lot of laughing and smiling and tender moments between them. Their entire group of friends and family enjoyed the day. I especially had fun shooting the bride’s little niece and nephew who looked so dapper in his shorts outfit and cap.
It was raining pretty hard when I first arrived, and the first thing I did was scope out some rain options for photos. I was pleasantly surprised to find Kayla in the girls’ cabin completely unphased by the rain and just excited to get married! We made the decision to push off family and bridal party portraits until after the ceremony, when the radar looked clear. Kayla still opted to do the first look down by the lake. At this point it was just drizzling, and I had my trusty clear umbrellas at the ready. The first look was gorgeous and I’m so happy with how the photos came out. Then the venue brought us in a golf cart up to the barn for some additional photos, and it actually stopped raining enough that we could toss the umbrellas aside for a few shots.
Then it was time for the ceremony, which was held under a roof but still outside, which was perfect. The ceremony was performed by one of Kayla’s bridesmaids, which made it extra special, and I specifically remember dying of laughter at several different points. The couple read their own vows, which were so powerful. Then it was time for family portraits, and just as we had hoped, the rain broke and we could do them outside. The reception started with some epic bridal party entrances, and was a lot of fun for everyone, with dinner, toasts, dancing, and dessert of course.
