I’m often asked for recommendations on the best engagement session locations around Boston, so I put together a curated list of my favorites. I’ve organized them by region – Boston, the North Shore, and the South Shore/South of the city – and included a mix of beaches, coastal views, greenery, and classic city spots. I’ve photographed at most of these locations myself, and added a few dream locations I’d love to shoot at in the future.
Boston Area Engagement Locations
Boston Public Garden
An iconic Boston location that never disappoints. I’ve done many sessions here over the years and still find something new to love each time. The manicured paths, soft willow trees, and the famous footbridge create an elegant, romantic setting.
Beacon Hill
Perfect for that classic Boston city feel. Beacon Hill’s brick townhomes, cobblestone streets, and charming corners create an iconic backdrop for timeless, elegant engagement photos.
Esplanade
A beautiful waterfront spot along the Charles River that pairs perfectly with Beacon Hill or the Public Garden. Wide paths, bridges, and river views give you a mix of greenery and city scenery in one session.
Copley Square/ Boston Public Library
For classic architecture lovers. The Boston Public Library offers stunning stone staircases, arches, and a timeless courtyard, while Copley Square adds beautiful city views and clean, elegant lines. (The Boston Public Library requires a permit to take photographs inside.)
Seaport/Fan pier
One of the most photographed spots in Boston. The waterfront views, modern architecture, and skyline backdrops make this area perfect for a sleek, contemporary engagement session.
Rowes Wharf/Christopher Columbus Park
A beautiful combination of waterfront elegance and greenery. Rowes Wharf offers the iconic Boston Harbor Hotel archway and waterfront views, while Christopher Columbus Park adds the vine-covered trellis and city views. Together, they create a refined and scenic backdrop just steps apart.
Charlestown
You can mix the historic charm of the Bunker Hill Monument and the quaint residential streets with the waterfront Navy Yard, which offers beautiful Boston skyline views.

Arnold Arboretum (Jamaica Plain)
A stunning nature location that’s beautiful year-round. Something is always in bloom, and the Arboretum’s wide paths, open fields, and unique trees create a peaceful, scenic backdrop for engagement photos.

North Shore Engagement Locations
Crane Beach (Ipswich, MA)
A stunning North Shore beach known for its soft dunes, long shoreline, and beautiful golden light. I haven’t photographed a session here yet, but it’s high on my wish list. It’s truly one of the most gorgeous beaches in Massachusetts.
Castle Hill on Crane Estate (Ipswich, MA)
A stunning, historic estate overlooking the ocean. With its grand architecture, sweeping lawns, and European-inspired gardens, Castle Hill offers a truly elevated setting for engagement photos. (A photography permit is required at this location.)
Plum Island (Newburyport, MA)
With its gentle dunes, airy grasses, and long stretches of shoreline, Plum Island has a romantic, effortless feel that photographs beautifully. It’s a quiet, refined coastal location ideal for golden hour sessions.
South Shore Engagement Locations
Duxbury Beach (Duxbury, MA)
One of my all-time favorite locations and, in my opinion, one of the best beaches in Massachusetts. The long stretch of sand, dune paths, and soft coastal light create a timeless, serene backdrop for engagement photos. There are also several beautiful spots in Duxbury that pair perfectly with the beach- feel free to ask about additional locations we can combine for your session.
World’s End (Hingham, MA)
A stunning coastal preserve with rolling hills, winding paths, and views of the Boston skyline. Trustees properties require a photography permit for sessions here, and it’s absolutely worth it for the variety and beauty of this landscape.
Scituate Lighthouse (Scituate, MA)
A classic New England coastal location with rocky shoreline, soft ocean light, and the iconic white lighthouse as a backdrop. It offers a beautiful mix of beach, jetty, and coastal charm, perfect for an elevated seaside session.
Cape Cod/ Further South of Boston Engagement Locations
Dennis Beaches (Dennis, MA)
Dennis is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on Cape Cod, known for their soft dunes, calm shoreline, and golden light. Whether you choose Mayflower, Corporation, or West Dennis Beach, this area offers a relaxed and classic Cape Cod coastal look.
Grey’s Beach/ Bass Hole Boardwalk (Yarmouth, MA)
A beautifully unique Cape Cod location with expansive marsh views and a long boardwalk that stretches out over the water. The open sky, tidal flats, and surrounding greenery create a peaceful, scenic setting perfect for coastal engagement photos.
Chatham Lighthouse Beach (Chatham, MA)
One of the most iconic beaches on Cape Cod. With its rolling dunes, long stretch of shoreline, and the historic lighthouse in view, this location offers a timeless and beautifully scenic backdrop.
Newport Mansions/ Cliff Walk (Newport, RI)
A truly iconic location for elegant, coastal engagement photos. The grand architecture of the Newport Mansions combined with the dramatic ocean views along the Cliff Walk creates an elevated, timeless backdrop. It’s perfect for couples wanting both historic charm and refined seaside scenery.
