This Amara Cay Resort wedding in Islamorada in the Florida Keys, was a perfect destination wedding weekend for the couple despite a tropical storm threatening all weekend! Amara Cay is one of the top resorts in the Florida Keys and is an excellent choice for a destination wedding. The resort provides stunning picturesque views of the ocean and many fun places to take photos. They also offer a variety of event spaces to suit the needs of your wedding, depending on the size and vibe you’re looking for.
Carolyn and Rick’s wedding day was supposed to begin with a sunrise photo session, but unfortunately, we had to cancel due to the pouring rain. Thankfully, that was the last of the rain for the weekend and they were able to enjoy the rest of their beautiful wedding day. Carolyn got ready in a suite at the resort with her bridesmaids and her adorable French bulldog, Louise. Louise wore a flower collar and was involved in every portion of the wedding day. Meanwhile, Rick got ready nearby at the Islamorada Beach House which they had rented for the day.
The two had an incredible first look at the end of the dock at Amara Cay, even though we were still getting intense tropical storm winds at this point. Due to the wind, we moved inside the lobby of the resort for some of the family and wedding party portraits, and the space inside was great for photos. We were able to have the intimate ceremony outside overlooking the water, and then moved under a tent for the reception where guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, and toasts.
I had so much fun photographing this Amara Cay Resort wedding and exploring the stunning sites of the Florida Keys, and can not wait to be back! Enjoy some photos from the day. And if you are looking for an Islamorada destination wedding photographer, I would love to chat!
